1800., Dec. 13. Gardner, Benjamin, of Mendham, Morris Co.; will of. Wife, Hannah,
use of household furniture, one cow and the rents from 1/2 of my plantation,
during her life. After wife's decease: daughter, Hannah Gardner, my great Bible,
chest of drawers, great chair, round table, great wheel, 2 little wheels and
1/2 of pewter. Son-in-law, Francis Lawrence, 5 shillings, besides what I have
given him before. Grandson, Gardner Ball, silver shoe buckles and knee buckles,
desk, looking glass, gun, and 1/4 of pewter. Grandson Samuel Ball, bed and bedding
and 1/4 pewter. The said 2 grandsons, Gardner and Samuel Ball, the 1/2 of plantation
with buildings, which was rented out for the support of my wife, during her life.
Other half of plantation and rest of personal estate to be sold (after wife's
decease), and proceeds divided between my 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, i.
e. Calvin Lawrence, *Skuiler Lawrence, Henry Lawrence, Dayton Lawrence, Betsy
Lawrence and Eunice Lawrence, the grandsons, each 2 shares and granddaughters,
each one share. Executors---Alexander King and Thomas Dell. Witnesses--Richard
Shotwell, Silvanus Williams, John Muir. Proved Sept. 13, 1802. Lib. 49, p.

Just one small problem: where's Luther? .. it says, "4 grandsons",
but only names 3. Francis Lawrence names a son, Luther in his will. Have to
get a copy of the complete will from the NJ Archives. They did make transcription
errors when abstracing these wills.....
