FIFTEENTH GENERATION

30784. William DRAKE (322) (312) was born about 1518 in Great Waltham, England. He died on Sep 23 1555 in White Notley, England.

William Drake was presented for being over 12 years of age and not in tithing at Courts held in Great Waltham on June 9, 1520, June 1, 1521, and was finally sworn in tithing on June 5, 1532, so he was probably born circa 1518 at Great Waltham. At the Court held on June 1, 1542, when his father's death was returned, he was admitted to the lands by virtue of a surrender made out of Court to the use of Thomas Drake's will. He joined with Thomas and John Drake, his brothers, in a surrender out of Court of Saches before June 3, 1544, and at the Court held on May 28, 1545, had license to lease his late father's lands for three years. Thereafter he disappears from the records of Great Waltham.

At White Notley, he was assessed for the Lay Subsidy of 1543-44, paying 4d. for his goods. He was buried at White Notley on September 23, 1555 and was survived by his wife Joan, who married secondly Thomas Everard. She preceeded her second husband in death, and it is from Thomas Everard's will that the children are listed.

(9 children of William and Joan: William, Agnes, Barbary, Agnes, Mary, Brigit, Joan, Dennis, John).

30785. Joan (322). Children were:
